Take the Next Vacation in Jim Corbett Park

Visit the Lush Jim Corbett Park for an Experience of a Lifetime

The Corbett National Park is a heritage property today for the entire country but its history is very interesting. Till 1820, the area known as Jim Corbett Park was the private property of the local rulers till these were taken over by the British Raj and the ownership exchanged hands. It was only in 1858 that plans were drawn up to protect the forests that were declared reserved in 1879. Jim Corbett at the age of eight started his display of hunting prowess in 1884 till in 1910 he ultimately gave up killing animals and became a wildlife enthusiast. The park was declared a national park in 1934 but it was only in 1957 after the death of Jim Corbett that the park was renamed Corbett National Park in order to honor his memory. In 1954 the Tiger Project was inaugurated and today this beautiful bio diverse park has celebrated its Diamond Jubilee (in 1996) and is now in Uttarakhand State of India.

Corbett National Park has rare trees that include sal and Sheesham besides 50 different species of animals and more than 500 birds and at least twenty five different species of reptiles. There are fish in its rivers and crocodiles such as gharial and mugger as well as flocks of cormorants. It’s indeed a pleasure to go on a safari in the Park and for this one can take one of several options such as a Jeep Safari, an Elephant Safari or a Horseback Safari. You can also go on fishing safari if you like. There are excellent facilities for you to stay while at the National Park and these will serve to make your vacation all the more enjoyable.
